Getting out of a negative mind spiral – bottom line (PG-13 language)

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t, from time to time, go on a mental negative spiral. I am a peace-love activist, and believe love is the answer and peace of mind always the moment by moment goal.

I am also human, and get triggered like the rest of us. Cue: John Lennon’s Mind Games

And, I’m an Actress, Director, and Producer.

Which means, for me, ‘rejection’ and a ‘yearning’ for my next great role are constant companions. Recently, I have been witnessing another Indian-American Actress achieve many of the milestones I have dreamt of since infancy. Trigger. It is not seeing another’s success that is hard. I’m happy to see it. What my mind does, is tell me that since another has achieved it, I won’t. It’s over for me. And now I need a new dream because mine has no chance of coming true. No chance because someone got it INSTEAD of me.

Anyone resonate with that?

So what to do in those moments when your loved ones are listening to the pity party coming out of your mouth? (very unattractive)

GET CURIOUS about your thinking. Get fucking curious!  What the hell are you thinking? What beliefs do you truly have? Figure that shit out.

THEN…

Ask yourself this bottom line question:

DO YOU BELIEVE IN THE INFINITY OF POSSIBILITIES OR NOT?

I do believe in the infinity of possibilities. So in this recent spiral into an unattractive pity party I climbed out by surrendering to the infinite.

Yes, it is possible for me to achieve all I want to achieve with lots of other Indian-American Actresses doing the same.

Do I really believe there is not enough abundance for us all? NO. I believe in the infinity of abundance for us all.

It comes down to this: Do you believe in the infinity of possibilities or not? Do you believe that this universe we dwell in is limited and finite? Is there some mathematical equation that shows there is a finite amount of possibilities in a world with 8 billion people and Mother Nature’s unpredictability?

Do each one of our lives has a finite limited amount of possibilities available to us no matter what choices we make?

Believing in limitation feels wrong to me.

While not fun to have these negative mental spirals, they are useful in uncovering limiting beliefs.

Decide what to believe.

Infinite Possibilities or Limitation.

Do you think life will be more fun if we open up to the infinity of possibilities and have more of a “let’s see what happens” attitude instead of “this will never happen”?

YUP.

Peace.
